Dr. Ira Zackon, Director of NYOH’s Stem Cell Transplant Program, and patient Gary Vogt were recent guests on WMHT’s Health Link program, discussing the topic of targeted therapy, a new development in cancer treatment that is based on a patient’s individual genetic makeup.
After being diagnosed with Myelofibrosis, a disease in which abnormal blood cells and fibers build up inside the bone marrow, Dr. Zackon started Gary on a targeted therapy that has been highly successful in keeping his disease in check. NYOH is also involved in clinical trials involving emerging targeted therapies.
