Three-Story, 105,000 Square Foot Facility at 4 Crossgates Mall Road to be the Largest in Area, Combining Advanced Treatment with Greater Patient Convenience
On Thursday, June 12, 2025, leaders of New York Oncology Hematology (NYOH), Albany County, the Town of Guilderland, and Columbia Development Companies gathered to break ground for construction of a new three-story, 105,000 square foot, state-of-the-art regional cancer center at 4 Crossgates Mall Road, off Western Ave. in Guilderland.

The new facility, located just off I-87/I-90 and heavily serviced by several CDTA bus routes, will draw patients from the Greater Capital Region and across Upstate New York, Southern Vermont, and Western Massachusetts by providing comprehensive oncology care in one location.
Designed by HCP Architects with BBL Medical Facilities as the builder, NYOH is creating a seamless patient experience by delivering multidisciplinary cancer care in one location. This includes medical oncology, surgery, and radiation oncology. From first appointment to follow-up, patients will have access to diagnostic testing, consultations, treatment, and post-treatment care at the Guilderland location. Thoughtful additions include a drive-through lane for oral medication pick-up, a serenity garden and picnic area, and electric vehicle charging stations.
The event featured a short program followed by a ceremonial first dig to officially break ground on the region’s largest cancer care center. The first of its kind in the area, the center brings together everything a patient needs—diagnosis, treatment and support— under one roof. Combining the expertise of multiple specialties in a single, easy-to-access location, NYOH is making cancer care more connected and convenient.
"Everything we do is about our patients. Building a Regional Cancer Center will enable our team to deliver more lifesaving care to a greater number of people. Today, cancer is different for every person. We know more and have more options. A patient may be getting treatment, a doctor may suggest bloodwork or a scan, or they may need to talk to a social worker,” said Dr. Todd Doyle, NYOH practice president and radiation oncologist. “We know cancer isn’t easy, but we can make treatment as comfortable and convenient as possible for our patients and their loved ones.”
The site will feature the most advanced diagnostic and treatment technology available. This includes: a radiopharmaceutical suite, two linear accelerators for radiation treatment delivery, advanced PET and CT imaging, and continued assessment by cellular therapy experts for CAR T cell or bispecific therapy.
Similar to cancer treatment and research centers such as Roswell Park in Buffalo, Dana-Farber in Boston or Memorial Sloane Kettering in New York City, the NYOH Regional Cancer Center will provide comprehensive, patient-centered cancer care that is a much shorter drive for people living in the Albany area, southern Vermont and western Massachusetts.
“We are deeply proud to be breaking ground on the area’s first Regional Cancer Center. Together with our partners, we are taking a major step forward, transforming access to advanced cancer care – not only for the Capital Region, but Southern Vermont and Western Massachusetts,” said Allyson Letendre Petrone, MHA, BSN, RN, NYOH Chief Executive Officer. “We are building the area’s largest cancer care facility. One that fully integrates medical oncology, hematology, radiation therapy, outpatient surgical oncology and support services.”
Founded, owned and led by a group of local physicians, NYOH is the region's largest provider of cancer and blood disorder treatments. A team of over 65 providers and 400 cancer care specialists treats approximately 13,000 patients annually. The practice will continue to serve patients at its Albany/Patroon Creek, Clifton Park/Halfmoon, Hudson, Amsterdam, and Troy locations, as well as its hematology suite at Albany Medical Center and its women’s imaging center, Akira Medical Imaging + Wellness, also located in Patroon Creek.
The NYOH Regional Cancer is slated for completion in Q4 2026 and is expected to welcome patients in early 2027.
