May is skin cancer awareness month and Dr. Charles Weissman, medical oncologist and melanoma expert, was a recent guest on “Medical Monday,” a live, radio call-in program on WAMC/Northeast Public Radio. Dr. Weissman discussed skin cancer prevention as well as several new breakthrough immunotherapy treatments that are now available for melanoma and other skin cancers.
Dr. Weissman practices at NYOH’s Clifton Park Cancer Center, in Saratoga County. He is also principal investigator for clinical research studies involving new skin and lung cancer therapies. For the WAMC program, Dr. Weissman was joined by Dr. Joseph Schwartz, a dermatologist, and the physicians explained how a dermatologist and oncologist work together in treating skin cancer.
