Taking Steps to Prevent Cancer


February is National Cancer Prevention Month and the American Cancer Society recommends seven key lifestyle habits that everyone should adopt to reduce their risk of the disease:

  1. Stop using tobacco
  2. Maintain a healthy weight throughout your life
  3. Exercise regularly
  4. Eat more fruits and vegetables – and less red meat
  5. Limit alcohol intake
  6. Stay out of the sun – or use plenty of sunscreen
  7. Get regular screenings
