New York Oncology Hematology cut the ribbon today on the region's first 4-ring Mobile PET/CT unit. The General Electric Discovery technology cuts patient scan time from 25 minutes to just 12 minutes, provides increased accuracy of smaller lesions and requires 50% less radiation dose. Designed with patient comfort in mind, the new unit, includes heated, fully reclining seats, heated blankets, iPads for patient use, and a new door system to better regulate temperature inside the coach. NYOH invested more than $1.5 million in its new mobile PET/CT, which weighs 80,000 pounds and will travel more than 100 miles a week to provide patient imaging in Albany, Amsterdam (Riverfront Center), Clifton Park, Hudson and Schenectady.
