Gloversville Salon Owner Donates More Than 100 Tote Bags for NYOH Patients in Treatment

Mar 03, 2016

In addition to owning Renditions Salon, in Gloversville, Linda Mendetta is also a sales consultant for Thirty one gifts consultant. With the help of many friends and customers, she recently delivered more than 100 Thirty one tote bags, filled items for NYOH patients going through cancer treatment.

Through Facebook and her customers, each bag was “sponsored” by someone, who donated money to cover the cost of the bag, plus the items inside, which include socks, blankets, lotion, note pads, puzzle books, lip balm and other items that can be helpful when going to NYOH for treatment.

Mendetta says she got the idea after hearing that many patients were bringing their lunch and other materials in plastic grocery bags. Many of the Thirty one bags are insulated and have comfortable hands.

Each bag includes a personal note, including the sponsor’s name and if the bag was donated in honor or memory of someone.  This is the second year Mendetta has done the donation and says she plans to keep growing the sale because so many people who sponsor a bag know someone or have themselves been through cancer treatment at NYOH.
